LED Streetlight Project
Yarmouth LED (Light Emitting Diode)
Street Lighting DEMO Project
On February 7, 2013, RISE Engineering working for the Cape Light Compact, in conjunction with the Town of Yarmouth, installed 8 new LED street lighting fixtures replacing the existing street lighting fixtures. 4 fixtures along Wood Road, closest to Town Hall, and 4 lights along Route 28, from State Police Barracks headed towards Hyannis, were changed to new LED low energy consuming fixtures at no cost to the town.
LED technologies are designed to use 40 – 50% less energy and last longer than existing streetlights, thereby lowering municipal budget maintenance costs. The town could potentially realize an annual savings of $75,475 by changing to LED street lights.
This is a demonstration project and we are looking for your feedback and impression of these energy saving fixtures. Color and intensity will be different from the old streetlights. Please answer the poll at the top of the page. Your feedback is needed and appreciated.
