Most Bank and other Financial Institution Online Payment agreements either prohibit, discourage and / or indicate payment of taxes using their service is at your own risk.
The Banks will not compensate you if your payment arrives late to the Town for payment of taxes. The Banks use services that will print and mail the payment to the Town. The companies used to print the checks are most often not in the North East.
Instead, use the Town of Yarmouth online payment portal. The payment is credited immediately. There is no charge when you pay using your bank account and routing number.

By Mail
If paying by mail, please remit payment to: Town of Yarmouth, P.O. Box 745, Reading, MA 01867-0405. Please include the bottom portion of your bill with your payment. Checks and money orders are accepted by mail. Cash is not accepted by mail.
By Phone
Town staff cannot take payments by phone. Please call City Hall Systems at 508-381-5455 to pay by phone. eCheck is free, credit or debit payments will include a 2.95% service fee (minimum $1.00).
Town Hall Drop Box
Town Hall is located at 1146 Route 28, South Yarmouth. The Town Hall Drop Box is located at the side entrance to the building by the parking area. Checks and money order are accepted in the Drop Box. Please include the bottom portion of your bill with your payment. Cash is not accepted in the Drop Box.

Motor Vehicle Excise Tax Abatement & other Motor Vehicle Information
You may be entitled to an abatement on your bill if you:
- No longer own the vehicle and;
- The Massachusetts registration for the vehicle has been:
- cancelled;
- transferred to another vehicle, or;
- the vehicle has been registered in a different state.
In all instances, we will require proof of the transaction.

Alternatively find the form on the Town’s website by going to Department and Assessor. The Abatement forms are under the Abatement section. There are many other forms related to Real Estate, Personal Property, Boat and Motor Vehicle Excise. Or the forms can be obtained by requesting it via e-mail using assessors@yarmouth.ma.us or by calling the Assessors using 508-398-2231 Ext. 1222.

Other Motor Vehicle Excise Tax Issues:
What if you think the valuation of your vehicle is incorrect?
- Valuations are set by the Registry of Motor Vehicles (RMV) based on the Manufacturer’s Suggested Retail Price. If you feel that your vehicle has been valued incorrectly, you need to contact the RMV.
How do I change the mailing address for Excise bills?
- The Registry of Motor Vehicles sends all billing information to the Town of Yarmouth. You will need to contact the Registry of Motor Vehicle to have your address changed.
