Obtaining a Business Certificate

To obtain a business certificate, please see the Yarmouth Town Clerk. Before obtaining a business certificate you must first apply for a Zoning Determination with the Building Department to determine if your business complies with Yarmouth's Zoning Bylaw. These forms may be submitted to MGrylls@yarmouth.ma.us

The Town of Yarmouth has created overlay districts and a Growth Incentive Zone (GIZ) as alternatives to traditional zoning practices. The overlay districts and GIZ are designed to provide incentives for economic development by allowing types of development not available in the underlying zoning.

South Yarmouth Opportunity Zone

The recently passed U.S. Tax Cut and Jobs Act of 2017 created the Opportunity Zone Program to provide incentives for investment in low income communities throughout the country. An Opportunity Zone is a designated geographic area, in which individuals can gain favorable tax treatment on their capital gains, by investing those (through a privately-created Opportunity Fund) into economic activities in the area. An Opportunity Zone has been designated in South Yarmouth which stretches from Parker's River to Bass River.

PACE Massachusetts


Property Assessed Clean Energy (PACE) for commercial buildings is a new mechanism to finance energy improvements, such as energy-efficiency projects, renewables, and gas line extensions, on commercial and industrial properties in Massachusetts. The Yarmouth Board of Selectmen voted at their January 15, 2019 meeting to adopt the PACE program in Yarmouth.

Fiber Optic Broadband Network

A fiber optic network exists in Yarmouth, with fiber routes running along Route 28 and Route 6A. This network was built to meet the demands of high speed data for Cape Cod businesses and allows for Yarmouth businesses along these routes to have access to affordable, world class, high-speed broadband voice and data services with direct connectivity to communication hubs in Boston and Providence. Community and Economic Development Committee


The Community and Economic Development Committee (CEDC) coordinates the economic development activities of the town and maintains a familiarity with state and local resources that may provide aid. The Committee typically meets on the second Thursday of each month at 4:00pm.
