Map changes may have moved properties from low risk into higher risk areas.  All Yarmouth homeowners should review the maps to ensure that changes do not affect them.  If a property is presently low risk and is found to have been moved to a high risk area on the new maps, flood insurance will be needed.  However, if that insurance is purchased before the new maps become official (expected in November 2009), insurance cost will be locked-in (grandfathered) at a substantially lower rate.  If you find that your property has been impacted, contact your insurance agent immediately for more information.

In addition to the FEMA Maps, the Town of Yarmouth created easier to read color-coded alternative sheet maps.  The maps are organized onto five sheets, which roughly divide the Town into four quadrants plus Great Island.

To identify your property's flood zone, click on the Yarmouth Sheet Maps or use the FEMA Index and then click on the appropriate FEMA Map below. (Map sizes are large and may take a few minutes to download). 

The maps are also located at the Yarmouth Town Office, in the Department of Community Development and in the Engineering Department, 1146 Route 28, South Yarmouth.  This location is handicapped accessible.
